125-pound woman devours world-record five pounds of bacon in five minutes

TORONTO – The thrill of victory…the agony of defeat…and the smell of bacon grease.

Competitive eater Molly Schuyler made history once again this past weekend, after she polished off five pounds of bacon in a world-record 5 minutes, 21 seconds.

Jethro’s BBQ n’ Bacon Bacon in Des Moines, Iowa was the site of the epic showdown between woman and bacon.

And Schuyler made five pounds of bacon disappear with such speed and ferocity it would have made cartoon character Homer Simpson proud.

Jethro’s owner Bruce Gerleman called Schuyler “an eating machine”. But despite the accolades, the competitive eater wasn’t content with her performance.

“I was going to finish it,” Schuyler  “If you could leisurely eat it for an hour, that would be great. But that wasn’t the point. I feel like I should have done better honestly.”

And tipping the scales at 5’7 and 125-pounds, Schuyler may not look like your typical competitive eater.

But try telling that to the two 72-ounce steaks at a Texas BBQ last May.

Last year, she downed 363 chicken wings in 30 minutes at Philadelphia’s Wing Bowl 22 to set another world record.

The Bellevue, Nebraska mother of four is currently the top ‘Food Warrior’ with the competitive eating organization

Video of the woman vs. bacon showdown will be sent to the Guinness Book of World Records to be officially verified as a world record.

Next up for Schuyler: a return visit to that Texas steakhouse, this time to devour three 72-ounce steaks.
